TTTC E.J. McCluskey Best Doctoral Thesis Award

The TTTC E.J. McCluskey Best Doctoral Thesis Award purpose is to promote most impactful doctoral student work, to provide the students with the exposure to the community and the prospective employers, and to support interaction between academia and industry in the field of test technology. The Award winner is determined by a Doctoral Student Contest held in two stages: regional semi-finals and global finals. Semi-finals are held at the regional TTTC-sponsored technical meetings such as VTS, ETS, LATW, and ATS (called regional sites). Prospective candidates are invited to submit a summary of their work to one regional site. Qualified submissions are selected and their authors are invited to present their work at the regional site. A jury determines the winner of the semi-final. All winners of the semi-finals are invited to the finals, where a jury determines the global Award laureate.

LATW semi-final
Ph.D. students who graduated in 2009 or will be graduating in 2010 are invited to submit a one page abstract of their thesis (maximum 750 words). A second page is allowed for references and/or figures only. Please submit a separate cover page with the student name and affiliation, the title of the thesis, and the expected date of graduation

The abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of industrial and academic experts. A set of finalists will be selected for the final round of the regional contest. Notification about the disposition of the submissions will be sent out by February 28th. The regional final round includes a 5-10 minute slot for oral presentation and a five minute slot for Q&A / feedback, during a dedicated session at LATW 2010. The panel of experts will judge the presentations and the winner of the contest will receive a certificate of the regional semi-final and will participate of the contest finals.

LATW2010 will be held in Punta del Este, Uruguay, considered as being one of the most beautiful and prestigious seaside resorts in South America. Punta del Este can be easily reached by bus shuttle (about one hour, buses every hour) from the Montevideo International Airport. Uruguay is a neuralgic point of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), between its two largest Member States: Argentina (two-hour ferryboat trip to Buenos Aires) and Brazil ( two hours flight to the cities of Porto Alegre, Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro). At less than two-hour drive from Montevideo can be found Colonia del Sacramento, founded by the Portuguese in 1680, declared Cultural Humanity Heritage by Unesco.
